Manchester, NH – In a press conference held today, local housing advocates and community leaders emphasized the urgent need for zoning reforms in Manchester to address the city’s growing housing crisis. The event highlighted the key policy changes and their potential impact on affordability and accessibility for residents.

Speakers stressed that Manchester’s outdated zoning regulations have contributed to a shortage of affordable housing and called on city officials to implement reforms that support responsible growth and housing equity. Residents shared firsthand experiences of housing challenges, underscoring the need for immediate action.

"Manchester has an opportunity to create a more inclusive and sustainable housing future," said Jessica Margeson, Manchester Neighbors Welcome member and Tenat Rights Advocate. "Updating our zoning code to allow for more homes is critical to ensuring that everyone has access to safe and affordable housing."

Advocates urged community members to stay engaged in the public input process and to contact city officials in support of policies that promote housing affordability.

Manchester Neighbors Welcome is a coalition effort convened by 603 Forward and New Hampshire Youth Movement. We are coming together to support common-sense municipal zoning changes that will bring about more attainable housing choices for all Manchester residents.
